Episcopal Relief and Development works with partners in the Anglican Communion and with ecumenical agencies to put our development strategy into action. Our approach focuses on food security, primary health, and emergency relief and rehabilitation. Our programs are rooted in capacity building, gender empowerment, and environmental sustainability.
There are a few ways in which we measure our successes. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) provide one framework. Before beginning any project, we assess the communities in which we plan to work, establishing baseline indicators. Our monitoring and evaluation program helps us to measure the effect we’re having throughout the life of the program. We plot the change against regional norms to evaluate a program’s success.
Another indication of the difference we’re making is the number of people we are reaching. In 2005, ERD has beneficiaries in more than 50 programs across the globe. Below is a breakdown of the people we are helping as we respond to human suffering worldwide.
