Get your community commited to recycling.
Whether you're trying to start a recycling program in your school, church, family, or community, you'll need to mobilize people to participate. Involve clergy, children, staff and volunteers in recycling. Consider introducing recycling to your congregation as part of a Sunday worship service.
Designate the placement of recycling containers.
Make sure that people know recycling is available to them. Distribute recycling bins according to needs: place an aluminum recycling bin next to the soda machine, a paper recycling bin next to the copy machine, etc. Put recycling containers next to trash cans so people will think twice before throwing something out!
Transport recyclables to the recycling center.
Determine who will collect recyclables, and how collection will take place. Arrange to take the recyclables to the Recycling Center on a regular basis.
Monitor your recycling program.
Monitor trash and recycling containers to ensure that people are correctly sorting recyclables and waste. Post clear directions on or near the containers.
