Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) is assisting survivors of Hurricane Katrina in four states through a partnership with Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM) affiliates. This program is called the Katrina Renewal Program and it aids survivors by offering them access to services, opportunities and resource coordination, identifying and pursuing recovery needs, and connecting them to their communities. The partnership is funded by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) through their program called Katrina Aid Today. Their services include:
- Special needs assessment such as intake and counseling.
- Professional case management that will implement individualized recovery plans and referrals to appropriate services.
- Coordination of volunteer activities.
In the Katrina Renewal Program, ERD and EMM are overseeing case management services for hurricane survivors in the following states: Texas (Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio), Kentucky (Louisville), Connecticut (New Haven), and Minnesota (Minneapolis).
The program will reach and serve up to 3,900 people. The project first began in December 2005 and will last through September 2007.
