Episcopal Relief and Development is supporting a long-term recovery effort by building a three to five year multi-phased response with two principle partners along the Gulf Coasts of Mississippi and Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina.  Our long-term partners are the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi (and implementing partner- Lutheran Episcopal Disaster Response), and the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana (and implementing partner- Office of Disaster Response in Louisiana). Our work focuses on livelihood and housing recovery, health and psychosocial care, case management and distribution and other interventions.

Phase I- the first three months where emphasis has been on rescue, shelter feeding, clean up and other immediate needs. 
Phase II- began in early October 2005 lasts through June 2006, covering ongoing clean up, and early rehabilitation and recovery activities. 
Phase III- focuses on long-term recovery (overlapping with Phase II) and continues throughout the second half of 2006 and into 2007. 
Phase IV- long-term development will continue from 2007 up to 2011.
