Global Needs

The Global Needs Fund allows Episcopal Relief & Development to fight poverty and disease worldwide by helping people sustain healthier, safer and more productive lives. Each of our focus areas and all of our programs work to achieve one or more of the MDGs, including fighting extreme poverty and hunger, promoting the empowerment of women and combating preventable diseases. By working to strengthen communities, Episcopal Relief & Development is healing a hurting world.

Disaster Response

Contributions to our Disaster Response Fund provide critical assistance such as food, water, medicine, shelter and other necessities after emergencies. These funds allow Episcopal Relief & Development to immediately assist people around the world when crises happen and to stay in the community to help heal and rebuild.

US Disaster Response

Contributions to the US Disaster Response Fund enable Episcopal Relief & Development to respond swiftly to disasters in the United States, providing critical supplies as needed. These funds also enable the agency to work with dioceses, preparing for crises and developing strong emergency response programs to lessen the impact of disasters on communities. Currently, donations to this fund will support disaster response in tornado-impacted dioceses in the Midwest and South.

Hunger

Our Hunger Fund alleviates hunger by ensuring that food is available, affordable and accessible. We work alongside communities to improve food production by providing training, tools and resources to increase crop yields, add nutritional value to families' diets, and promote sustainable farming practices.

Health

Our Health Fund assists communities around the world by promoting good health and fighting disease. Your gift will help protect people from preventable diseases through immunizations, proper nutrition, access to affordable health care services and education, and adequate sanitation and hygiene systems. We partner with local church-based programs, health workers and clinics to battle HIV/AIDS through prevention education, patient care and support for orphaned children and extended families.

Women's Development

Your donation to the Women's Development Fund supports long-term strategies that help families and communities break out of poverty.  Women receive small loans and the essential tools and training to start small businesses, become independent and earn enough money to support their families.

Clean Water

Your support of our Clean Water Fund helps provide communities with safe water and sanitation systems to meet basic needs. Episcopal Relief & Development constructs community wells and water piping systems in addition to providing critical hygiene education and sanitation.

Sudan

Episcopal Relief & Development is supporting the Episcopal Church of Sudan as it works to meet the needs of internally displaced people who fled Abyei after the Sudanese Armed Forces invaded and occupied the region. An estimated 20,000 people have been affected by what is feared to be a reprisal of the civil war that ravaged the country for decades. Abyei is located in the border region between Sudan and the newly independent state of South Sudan, and its status has been a major point of tension since the Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed in 2005.

Haiti Earthquake Response

Contributions to the Haiti Earthquake Response Fund will help provide critical assistance in the aftermath of the January 2010 earthquake. Episcopal Relief & Development is working with its partners in affected areas to provide technical aid; meet immediate needs such as food, water, shelter and medical care; and coordinate a long-term response. The agency is committed to continuing its support throughout the recovery and rehabilitation process.
