Before ERD Sunday
- Develop an Order of Service including ERD Sunday elements.
- Include an announcement of ERD Sunday in the church bulletin/Sunday service leaflet prior to the date of the event.
- Make sure you have downloaded the resources you want to use from list above.
- If you desire to have copies of the Millennium Development Goals Inspiration Fund brochure/poster, contact Episcopal Books and Resources (EBaR) at 1.800.903.5544 for availability and to place an order.
- Download and copy ERD Sunday insert and include in each church bulletin/Sunday service leaflet.If you have red envelopes to use for ERD Sunday, place them in each pew or in another prominent location.
- Prepare any special displays, hang up copies of the mosquito image and make copies of the MDG Inspiration Fund FAQ’s to distribute.
- If using the MDG Inspiration Fund PowerPoint, download presentation onto computer. Print out accompanying script. Set up computer and projector.
- Brief the rector, lay leaders and ERD Sunday team members on their roles for ERD Sunday and incorporate any suggested wording they may have for announcements and activities.
On ERD Sunday
Carry out planned activities, including:

Collect all gifts and ERD Sunday response devices after the service.
Follow-Up After ERD Sunday
Collect the special offering gifts as follows:
- Every red plate envelope (if used for offering)
- Each individual check. Make sure all are made payable to Episcopal Relief and Development, and have “ERD Sunday/MDG Inspiration Fund” on the memo line
- Each response device (on back of bulletin insert)
- Write one check from the church to account for all the cash collected and indicate it is for ERD Sunday on the memo line
- Include your church’s 0.07% commitment to the Millennium Development Goals Inspiration Fund
Mail in a security envelope to: Episcopal Relief and Development, PO Box 7058, Merrifield, VA 22116-7058.
Include a reminder from the pulpit or in the bulletin to pray for those who will be blessed through the MDG Inspiration Fund.
Hold a meeting with team to discuss what worked or what could be done differently next year. Share feedback about ERD Sunday with ERD staff. Mail any comments to Church Relations Office, Episcopal Relief and Development, 815 Second Avenue, New York, NY 10017.
