US Disaster Preparedness Initiative

Episcopal Relief & Development’s US Disaster Preparedness Inititive works with targeted dioceses to improve their preparedness and mitigate the impact of disasters. The program is building a national volunteer and skill database called "Ready to Serve", holding local and regional trainings and assisting dioceses with regional coordination and planning. A resource library will facilitate the sharing of information and best practices throughout the Church.

This program improves targeted dioceses’ preparedness and mitigates the impact of disasters by:

• Providing access to the "Ready to Serve" database of willing disaster responders around the country.

• Holding national and regional trainings on pastoral care and the basics of disaster preparedness and response.

• Maintaining a disaster preparedness and response resource library that serves as a place to collect best practices and tools and makes them available to dioceses around the country.
