Planned Giving Frequently Asked Questions
I have a lot of questions about planned giving. Can I speak with someone at Episcopal Relief & Development?
Please complete our Contact a Planned Giving Representative form and you will be put in touch with an officer at the Episcopal Church Foundation to discuss your planned giving options.
Can I designate a planned gift to a certain Episcopal Relief & Development program?
Yes, you may designate a gift to our general fund, or to a country/program focus area. Should Episcopal Relief & Development no longer be working in that area when your gift is realized, it will be directed to a similar program or the area of greatest need.
Can I use a planned gift to support Episcopal Relief & Development’s endowment?
Episcopal Relief & Development has two endowment funds:
- Securing Our Future provides for infrastructure and operational needs.
- Healing a Hurting World supports our program initiatives in four areas: alleviating hunger, creating economic opportunities, promoting health and fighting disease, and responding to disasters.
You may designate your planned gift to either of these endowment funds.
A life income gift really interests me. How can I fund one?
First, you must be over 55 years old, and have a minimum of $2,500 to donate. Gifts can be funded with cash, securities, and in some cases, real property. Retirement assets such as an IRA or 401(K) cannot be directly transferred to fund a gift, but must be cashed out; the donor would incur capital gains. However, the deduction a life income gift provides may offset some or all of the gain.
