Local Dioceses Launch Nets Campaigns
The NetsforLife® Inspiration Fund is gaining momentum across the Church to unite Episcopalians in the fight against malaria. The Episcopal Dioceses of Easton, El Camino Real, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Southwest Florida, Southwestern Virginia, Texas, Virginia, Wyoming and others have all begun campaigns to support NetsforLife® and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
This past January, the Episcopal Dioceses of North Carolina and Virginia launched their efforts at their annual conventions. The Diocese of North Carolina set a significant goal of purchasing 40,000 nets. To build on local strengths and capacity, Episcopal Church Women, MDG Task Force, and Episcopal Relief & Development representatives joined forces on this special campaign to shine a spotlight on the MDGs. In the Diocese of Virginia, a youth-centered net campaign was set forth to invite youth and all members to support malaria prevention and reach a goal of purchasing 20,000 nets in the coming year.
