Hurricane Season is on the Way

If last year’s summer season is any indication, hurricane preparedness is vital in the months to come. In 2008, eight major storms formed in the Atlantic, and five of them were classified as major hurricanes that caused significant damage. In addition to developing local preparedness plans, we’re continuing to help vulnerable communities shore up infrastructure and alleviate problems like deforestation and the destruction of mangrove swamps that can make communities more defenseless to a storm’s extreme force.
