Episcopal Relief & Development Launches New Website and Visual Identity
6/9/2008
Episcopal Relief & Development launched its redesigned website today, unveiling a new image that powerfully portrays the core values of the organization and strengthens its online presence.
“Episcopal Relief & Development has reached incredible milestones in the past several years. Working in partnership with over 60 Anglican and ecumenical agencies, our programs now impact more than two million people in 41 countries,” said Robert W. Radtke, President of Episcopal Relief & Development. “Our new website reflects the vitality of our work and is a powerful and usable tool that tells our story,” Radtke continued.
The innovative and user-friendly website provides a comprehensive overview of Episcopal Relief & Development along with individual country pages detailing partners and programs in 41 countries. It also highlights the organization’s programs, which focus on the following areas: alleviating hunger and improving food supply, creating economic opportunities and strengthening communities, promoting health and fighting disease, and responding to disasters and rebuilding communities.
“We wanted our new website to be an educational tool to build awareness of Episcopal Relief & Development and our approach to development,” said Abagail Nelson, Senior Vice President for Programs. “By providing resources and opportunities for individuals and churches, we open a door to a new way of living in solidarity with people around the world,” continued Nelson.
Some of the new features of the site include Stories from the Field, which shares how lives are being changed through the work of Episcopal Relief & Development. An expanded Congregational Tools section helps churches engage with Episcopal Relief & Development by providing resources, tools, and creative ideas and events.
An Online Store offers unique gifts from the Gifts for Life catalog that make a lasting impact in communities around the world. Those interested in supporting the work of Episcopal Relief & Development will find the new website’s Donate Now section a secure and convenient way to contribute online.
New Visual Identity and Language
Episcopal Relief & Development also introduced a new logo as part of the website launch. The redesigned logo reinforces the organization’s global vision, its commitment to partnerships, and its connection to the Episcopal Church.
“We revamped our website and logo as part of a larger process of listening and learning from supporters and partners,” says Lorenzo Martinez, Vice President for External Affairs. “The language and images chosen express the key aspects of our work in a fresh way and invite people to engage with the organization on multiple levels.”
The new tagline, “Healing a hurting world” echoes the mandate of the organization to restore hope to those who are hurting — which includes feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, and welcoming the stranger. This creates a strong relationship with the Episcopal concept of “healing,” which speaks to transformation of the whole person, whole community, and whole world.
“I encourage people to explore Episcopal Relief & Development’s site,” says Radtke, “and join with us in healing a hurting world.”
