NetsforLife® Business Development Manager
Location: Accra, Ghana preferred; other regional (African) locations will be considered

Job Summary:
Position NetsforLife® implementing partners to align their programs with National Malaria Control Programs (NMCP) and other key players in order to maximize opportunities to grow quality programs through in-country resource mobilization and strategic partnering.
Specific Duties:
In close collaboration with the Director of Business Development, this position involves coordinating with in-country partners and regional staff on upcoming local opportunities; leading proposal teams; developing relationships with local leaders and partners; strengthening relationships with donors and NMCP and coordinating high-level donor trips.
• Work in partnership with in-country team to develop relationships with local representatives of bilateral funding sources, including U.S. in-country missions (for USAID and PMI) and non-U.S. government funding agencies and multilateral funding sources, including the Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCMs) for Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM).
• Work in partnership with in-country team to develop relationships with targeted, high-level leaders, NGO partners and NCMP staff to increase understanding of NetsforLife® mission and message delivery to a broader audience.
• Leverage relationships to identify opportunities for malaria program expansion. Support in-country team to pursue opportunities for growth, new initiatives, including proposal development, writing, submission and follow-up.

Communicate between stake-holders collaborating with colleagues across geographies, cultures and time zones
Develop a system of intelligence gathering from formal and informal sources that may be analyzed to provide strategic direction and positioning for NetsforLife® and its stakeholders
Share information as relevant, and build synergies between activities, partners and the different components of the project.
Ensure high quality periodic reporting on all business development project prospects and implementation on in-country aspects
Adhere to and ensure sound financial management and budget agreements.
Financial/Job Scope:
Solve problems arising in the implementation of business development strategies. Funding partner issues require the building of consensus and collaboration to make informed decisions.
Confidence in using statistics and financial information jointly with intuition and judgment.
Approach and analyze situations from different perspectives, assessing impact on each part of the chain. Ability to gather intelligence from many sources that can be turned in to recommendations for NetsforLife® strategic positioning or partnering.
Judgment and Decision Making:
Decisions typically relate to recommendations to the Director of Business Development and Executive Director on optimal fund raising strategies to meet the agreed Program requirements.
Executive presence, the ability to influence key leaders and to represent the institution externally as agreed to or delegated by the Director of Business Development or Executive Director.
Organization Impact/Influence Interaction with:
External - Governments: influencing and negotiations; Corporates: influencing and negotiations; Existing Funding partners: constant exchange of information, guidance, solving problems and collaboration; Local NGOs/Communities/Dignitaries/VIPs: building rapport and collaboration
Internal - NfL Director of Business Development; for planning, guidance, solving problems and for performance reviews - NfL Executive Director: guidance, decisions and exchange of information - NfL Steering Committee: exchange of information - NfL Technical Director: regular exchange of information and solving problems - NfL Field Partnership Development Facilitator for Africa: coordination and exchange of information for program expansion and new initiatives - ERD Director of External Affairs to ensure branding, messaging, marketing, media and PR issues are coordinated and complimentary as and when appropriate.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
Educational Requirements - BA required. Advanced degree preferred, MBA, MPH, MPA, International Policy or equivalent.
Required Experience:
Must have 3-5 years experience and a proven track record in fund raising, government service, lobbying, or government relations, and securing grants in the not for profit sector.
Development experience preferred, especially in Africa.
Cultural Diversity: Responsibility and Interaction with multiple ethnic and cultural exposure both internally and externally.
Fluency in English essential; French and Portuguese preferred.
Additional Requirements:
Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% of the time. Mainly requiring week or more stays. Ability and willingness to travel to risky and remote locations.
