Protecting the Arctic is more than an issue of stewardship of God’s creation and resources. It is a question of human justice and the fundamental rights of the Gwich’in people.

Since taking an initial stand against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in 1991, the church has worked vigorously with the Gwich’in to protect these sacred grounds.
